Team Manager, Life & Annuity Claims

The Team Manager, Life & Annuity Claims will be accountable for ensuring that claims are properly adjudicated and that payments are made in a timely and accurate manner. The Claims Manager ensures that claimants and advisors are pro-actively informed during the process and that decisions are communicated in an empathic manner. In addition, the manager will be responsible for developing team members ensuring that there is a continuous learning program in place, as well as fostering a high performance mentality where claims examiners are empowered and supported in their decision making.


Responsibilities:

Work in partnership with members of leadership team to ensure priorities are clear and in line with business strategies.




May assist in managing litigated claims and appeals; coaches others on complex decisions and oversees the claim processing strategy.

May assist in performing quality assurance and review audits.

Provides leadership around escalated claims and monitors caseloads and productivity for service standards.

Review of claims data looking for trends that can impact the business and reporting results to Claims leadership.

Develop direct reports by fostering and supporting career development, motivating, engaging and capitalizing on employee strengths.

Build cross-functional partnerships with other business units throughout the organization to deliver on business results and manage risk.

Recruit high potential talent for current and future opportunities.

Establish a highly effective and engaged team with positive morale.

Build strong relationships with the sales force, customers and other business partners, including Legal, SIU (Special Investigative Unit), Actuarial, Underwriting and Compliance.
