Director for Sales Development of Foreign National Marketing - Job Description

The Director for Sales Development of Foreign National Marketing is responsible for in-market articulation and implementation of national, regional and local brand-marketing strategies related to key Foreign National consumers. He or she will ensure marketing plans are strategically aligned and contribute to the achievement of Foreign National Marketing’s annual goals and initiatives.

This position reports to the SVP and Head of Foreign National Marketing department, and works closely with the Channel Heads (NMO, General Agent and Bank, Broker/Dealer and Wire houses), as well as the Regional Sales Directors to ensure alignment across the distribution channels and with the corporate marketing organization.

This person identifies core focus areas with the Channel Heads and throughout their assigned distributors identifying opportunities to improve Foreign National sales. They will oversee communication and execution of national, regional and local Foreign National Marketing initiatives, as well as recommendation of specific initiatives that are market relevant.

Strong capabilities in recruiting, supporting and managing the relation with brokerage agencies and national-scale independent distribution organizations. Hands on experience in developing and implementing marketing strategies to penetrate new markets and distribution channels (brokers, strategic alliances, independent distributors, agencies/personal agents, etc.) to achieve sales goal and company long term objectives.Demonstrate high capacity for identifying business opportunities and solutions development.


  • Identifying Foreign National market opportunities in order to execute culturally relevant marketing plans and increase sales within the different distribution channels.
  • Developing Foreign National marketing plans that are consistent with corporate brand-marketing strategies.
  • Ensuring programs contribute to brand health, while providing sales with the selling tools needed to outperform the competition in key markets.
  • Effectively manage the budget; communicate programs to distributors; evaluate execution and provide feedback to the marketing organization.
  • Developing key Foreign National marketing alliances and overseeing special events.
  • Able to persuade and influence effectively
  • Culturally astute and able to understand unique aspects of marketing to groups with diverse needs and preferences
  • Ability to manage complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to recognize critical problems and opportunities


    • 8 or more years with Foreign National marketing and sales.
    • Travel as needed.
    • A Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or Business
    • Multilingual is a plus.
    • A valid Driver’s License is required.
