Job Description

IT and IM Manager – Reporting to President



General Summary

This position has responsibility for the IT and technological resources for the Company.  It includes system administrator of the MGA software, managing the IT vendor relationship, reviewing, proposing and implementing hardware and software upgrades, maintenance and procurement of hardware and IT/telecommunication services, monitoring and assisting in resolution of IT, telecommunication, software and hardware issues, liaison with UK/Group IT for companywide initiatives, and ensuring data and cyber security compliance with US Regulation and UK/Group Policies, insurance partner contracts and external regulations.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handles system maintenance.  This includes upgrade implementations, testing and report writing.
  •  Maintains MGA software, personal expense processing system, and accounting software including the addition or deletion of accounts, tax tables, vendor tables for claims and accounting, yearend close and roll forward of retained earnings.
  • Acts as service desk for underwriting, claims and finance.  Handles system design and enhancements and problem resolution, as well as process improvements.
  • Responsible for compliance with Group, Insurance partner, and regulator data security and privacy requirements.
  • Main point of contact for UK/Group IT on companywide initiatives.
  • Proactively manages IT service provider and help desk provider, monitoring and ensuring adherence to service level standards and resolution of problems. 
  • Proactively manages other IT solutions, software and telecommunications for the Company including hardware, software maintenance, upgrades and vendor management
  • Responsible for producing all required statistical and statutory reporting, including ad hoc requests, for contract and regulatory requirements as well reports needed for operational and strategic business needs.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in IT systems / data management
  • Previous experience as a system administrator or high understanding of information technology, preferred


Special Requirements/ Additional Duties

  • Must have experience negotiating for contracted services
  • Must be able to comprehend and implement contractual terms independently
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Demonstrates knowledge in analytical and math skills.
  • Demonstrates business writing and oral communication skills
  • Team player
  • Able to multi-task
  • Some business travel required
