Our client is a top rated and growing Life and Retirement Solutions company who is looking to add an experienced Implementation (Transition) and Project Manager to the Retirement Solutions team (PRT). This role will focus on the Pension Risk Transfer process and will require experience in this product line.


You will oversee and manage the successful installation and transition of newly sold Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) cases.

This position requires excellent (project management) and executive (presentation skills). The Project Manager will communicate with trustees, retirement plan administrators, brokers, internal business partners and internal senior management to ensure that the installation process runs smoothly and efficiently, delivering a positive first experience to both clients and their plan participants.


  • Coordinate and drive the installation process to ensure that a portfolio of large and complex new business cases are transitioned efficiently. Establish project plans and schedules. Maintain the correct structures to minimize risks and to control, monitor, and report progress against plans. Actively identify and manage issues through to resolution so as to install new cases in the most timely, accurate and efficient manner.
  • Take responsibility, with support from the Head of U.S. Retirement Operations, for communicating with trustees, fiduciaries, brokers, and retirement plan administrators, establishing both timetables and the process for verifying participant data. Establish and monitor actions against the agreed upon timetables, putting remedial actions into place when required, including negotiating and communicating revised timetables to the plan trustee(s).
  • Work with the client and their delegate(s) to obtain all necessary plan participant data and work with IT to ensure that all participant data and benefit information gets quickly validated and then accurately uploaded onto the appropriate administration system(s).
  • Identify and manage risks to ensure that critical problems are escalated at the earliest opportunity and mitigating actions are put in place.
  • Analyze quotation data and participant benefit data, work with actuaries, retirement plan administrators and fiduciaries to address and reconcile any anomalies.
  • Share critical data discrepancies discovered during installation with pricing team so that the financial impact may be determined and, if required, quickly communicated to the client.
  • Take an active role in new business development by presenting and explaining the new business installation process to prospective clients, fiduciaries and intermediaries. Be able to engage new and potential clients about the company’s products and processes. Represent the company professionally.
  • Represent the team in meetings with trustees, brokers and administrators in a professional and informed manner. Influence the client to provide required information and data quickly and in a suitable format to enable efficient installation of the new business. Advise and negotiate with clients as to options to administer non-standard or complex benefit structures.
  • Assist the Head of U.S. Retirement Operations with refining the end-to-end installation process, with particular regard to improving efficiency and the control environment.
  • Ensure that appropriate prioritization, planning, resourcing and contingencies for customer issues are integrated into project and resource plans so they are central to delivery and aligned with intent to deliver a world-class customer experience.
  • Coordinate effective internal communications with Administrative Services and IT teams and external communications with retirement plan participants.
  • Deliver effective communication to stakeholders, including both the client and senior management, ensuring they receive all relevant information.
  • Help lead and mentor junior team members, as requested.
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned.


  • Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2 or similar certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree


  • 3+ years project management experience (PMP is a big plus)
  • 5+ years experience in a customer service/admin related position
  • Pension Plan, Retirement Benefits, Annuity or Financial experience
  • Understanding of pensions, annuities and life insurance products
  • Knowledge of pension regulations and pension plan de-risking
  • Experience managing staff preferred


  • Willing and able to travel 25% of the time
