Job Description

The Underwriting Assistant, Global Accident & Health, is responsible for supporting the product development, product management and underwriting process for an emerging line of business.    The Underwriting Assistant is required to collaborate with team members to achieve profitable growth, renewal retention, and an excellent standard of service to our producers/clients.  The Underwriting Assistant gathers and analyzes account information, interprets and translates data into rating and issuance instructions working with team members to ensure all relevant compliance and regulatory rules are complied with.  Additionally, the Underwriting Assistant is accountable for documentation that meets the requirements set forth in the Underwriting Rules and Guidelines of the company's Global Accident & Health parameters.

  • 4-year degree preferred; those with associate degrees will be considered.
  • Minimum 1-2 years professional office experience but highly motivated entry level applicants will be considered.
  • Knowledge and understanding of insurance principles and practices a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic quantitative skills in areas such as arithmetic, algebra, economics or accounting.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of and preferably experience with managing electronic files, data, and records.
  • An understanding of the need to provide excellent service to customers that is demonstrated by respecting established service standards.
  • Capability to work independently without supervision as well as within a group environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and establish priorities in consultation with management.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changes.
